Dedicated Medical Program

Medical Weight Management.
Science, Not Trends.

A physician-supervised program that treats excess weight as a medical condition — with evidence-based therapies, no gimmicks, and no judgment. OHIP-covered assessment included.

A Medical Approach to Weight Loss

Most weight loss programs sell you a subscription, a shake, or a philosophy. Ours starts with a physician assessment. We look at your full health picture — metabolic health, hormones, medications, history — and build a plan based on actual medicine.

This isn't a crash diet. It's evidence-based care with appropriate follow-up, using the same tools a hospital obesity clinic would use — just accessible at a walk-in clinic level.

  • Physician-reviewed and personalized treatment plans
  • Prescription therapies when medically appropriate
  • OHIP coverage for consultations and bloodwork
  • Regular monitoring and plan adjustments
  • No shame, no gimmicks, no unrealistic promises

How the Program Works

Three straightforward steps to get started on a medically supervised path.

1

Walk In & Speak With Staff

No appointment needed. Come in during clinic hours and our staff will complete a brief intake. You may be asked about your health history and goals.

2

Physician Assessment

A licensed physician will conduct a comprehensive assessment including BMI, metabolic history, medications, and prior weight management attempts.

3

Personalized Program

You'll receive a customized plan — which may include prescription therapies, dietary guidance, activity goals, and scheduled follow-up appointments.

What the Program Includes

Treatment is personalized — not every patient receives the same plan. Your physician will determine what's appropriate based on your assessment.

Prescription Weight Loss Medications

Where medically appropriate, physicians may prescribe approved weight loss medications (e.g., GLP-1 agonists). Costs and OHIP eligibility vary.

Metabolic & Lab Assessment

Bloodwork, thyroid screening, blood glucose, and cholesterol assessments to identify contributing factors — fully covered by OHIP.

Nutritional Counselling Plan

Evidence-based dietary guidance personalized to your lifestyle, culture, and health conditions — no fad diets.

Ongoing Medical Monitoring

Regular physician check-ins to assess progress, adjust the plan, and address any side effects or emerging health concerns.

Weight Management FAQs

The physician assessment, consultation, bloodwork requisitions, and follow-up visits are covered by OHIP. However, prescription weight loss medications are typically not covered by OHIP and must be paid out-of-pocket or through private insurance. Our physician will explain all costs clearly before prescribing anything.

No referral is needed. You can walk into Windsor Walk-In Clinic during operating hours and ask to speak with a physician about the weight management program. A brief intake will be completed before your physician assessment.

Generally, adults with a BMI over 30 (or over 27 with a weight-related health condition like Type 2 diabetes or hypertension) who have struggled with weight loss through diet and exercise alone. The physician will determine eligibility during your assessment.

Physicians may prescribe Health Canada-approved medications such as GLP-1 receptor agonists (like semaglutide), depending on your health profile. All prescriptions are based on individual medical assessment, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Weight management is a long-term process. Initial results are often seen within 4–12 weeks, but the program is designed for sustainable, medically supervised progress over months. Your physician will set realistic milestones at intake.

Absolutely not. Our physicians approach weight management as a medical condition — not a personal failing. You can expect respectful, evidence-based guidance with no shame, no judgment, and no unrealistic expectations.
